A documentary to celebrate the centenary of filmmaking in Elstree and Borehamwood will be screened for the public.
From Borehamwood to Hollywood: The Rise and Fall and Rise of Elstree will be previewed in two free screenings during the first week of October.
The documentary, created by Howard Berry, tells the story of the 100 years of film and television in the town, from the very first studio built in Borehamwood through to the post-war years and the long fight to save Elstree Studios from demolition.
A number of exclusive interviews from The Elstree Project also feature in the documentary, including those from stars such as Steven Spielberg, Sir Roger Moore and Brian Blessed – along with more than 40 former crew members and studios staff from the area.
The film is narrated by Barbara Windsor, while historian Paul Welsh provides additional linking material.
The first public screenings will be held at the Ark Theatre on October 4, at both 3pm and 8pm.
Admission is free but tickets, limited to two per booking, must be obtained from the theatre.
