A choir is on the lookout for new members before its next big show.

Achoir’d is an adult choir formed in January last year by Kristian Parkes, founder of Music Intuition.

The Choir is affiliated to two main charities, the Evelina Children’s Hospital and the North London Hospice, and sings a variety of popular musical theatre and modern music.

Members are now striving to double their current membership of around 21 people and hope to recruit new members before their next big performance in December.

Singer Sue Fox said: “You may think you have to be a strong singer to join a choir. This is a misconception. Strong singers, semi-professionals or ex-professional members are essential, as are male voices, but less strong singers are much needed, as these singers tend to ‘follow’ the better ones and their presence increases the density of sound of the choir.

“We all experience a sense of well-being and the happiness that radiates from singing is well acknowledged.”

The choir rehearses weekly in All Saints Church, in Shenley Road, Borehamwood, on Tuesday evenings.

Potential members are invited to try out the club for free before signing up as a member, and can find out more information by contacting Kristian Parkes on 07971 404541 or emailing kristianparkes@live.co.uk
