As the school holidays come to an end this week, a playscheme has looked back on another successful summer.

Noah’s Ark Playscheme, which is part of Hertsmere Mencap, held a successful holiday playscheme over the summer at St. Teresa’s School in Borehamwood.

The scheme is set up to provide valuable respite care for families with children with special needs, offering fun and stimulating activities in a safe and caring environment during the school holidays.

Fully qualified staff supervised the children, aged five to 16, during activities that included arts and crafts, music and dance, lots of outdoor activities and also trips to adventure playgrounds, farms and parks.

Borehamwood Fire Crew also gave participants a demonstration, while Tesco invited the children to decorate donuts.

Playscheme coordinator Rochelle Gould said: "The children have had a fantastic summer at Noah’s Ark, benefitting from the various activities and trips we organised; we try to cater for individual needs and therefore ensure that there is a wide range of choice for the children to enjoy.

"Our families have also benefitted from some much-needed respite over the long school holidays and we look forward to seeing their children again at our next playscheme. We have a great team of staff and volunteers led by our Head Play Leader Alyson Gnessen, who all worked very hard to care for the children and to provide a fun playscheme, and thanks go to them plus all who donated their time and efforts.“
