Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a cat was shot in the jaw.
Maine Coon cat Shaggy Too was shot in the lower jaw between 7.45am and 8.45am on Sunday, August 24, in the garden of a property in The Campions.
Police have been investigating the case and are now asking anyone with information to come forward.
Safer Neighbourhood Team Sergeant Graham Thomson said: “The cat was very lucky to not have been killed in this incident. The family is understandably distressed by what has happened but I would like to reassure residents that this is a rare occurrence in Borehamwood.
“I would appeal to anyone, especially animal lovers, to help us catch the person or people responsible for this cruel crime. We would like to hear from anyone who may have heard or seen anything unusual or suspicious in the area at the time of the incident. Any detail, however minor it may seem, may assist our investigation.”
Anyone with any information in relation to this incident is asked to contact PC Tanya Bainbridge-Price via Hertfordshire Constabulary’s non-emergency number 101
