Images from a Radlett petrol station have been released to help trace a man in connection with a phone scam.

Police are on the hunt for a man seen in a Radlett petrol station after a woman, from Trinity Hall Close in Watford, was the victim of an elaborate phone scan.

A caller, who was pretending to be a police office, told the 58-year-old that some people had been arrested after trying to use her cards, and asked her to provide the details of all the cards she had in the house.

He then pretended to be someone from her bank who had arranged for a courier to visit her home in order to collect her cards as part of the investigation.

After a man then arrived at her door, the woman handed over her credit and bank cards before a sum of money was later taken from her accounts.

The CCTV images of the man police want to speak to was taken shortly after the offence, between 4pm and 7pm on July 16, in a petrol station in Radlett.

PC Carlie Thomas said: “Although the victim was not physically harmed by the offender or offenders, the caller was extremely persistent and persuasive.

“He kept her on the phone for several hours throughout the scam and applied an enormous amount of pressure on her, making her feel flustered and distressed. She was understandably left feeling extremely upset by what happened.

“I would like to speak to the man in the photo as he may have information that is useful to our investigation. If you believe you recognise him please get in touch with me as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information about the incident should contact PC Thomas on the non-emergency number 101.
