Pupils have smashed more school records this week, with one student gaining an impressive seven A* grades.

Mollie Georgiou, who attends Hertswood Academy, opened her results envelope at the school this morning after a tense wait.

Results have risen by 16 per cent over the last two years, but Mollie still managed to beat the school record by two A*s after gaining seven of the top grades.

Mollie, who plans to stay at the academy for sixth form, said: “I was so nervous this morning. I didn’t have the confidence in myself to think I could actually get them.

“I’m so pleased, I just need to ring my mum and tell her now.”

Three other students, Jordan Scammell, Hannah Whitney and Charlie Hart, equalled the previous record of five A*s, which hasn’t been touched for six years.

Headteacher Peter Gillett said: “All I can say is it’s down to the hard work from both students and staff, and the support from parents. The results have been great across the board and we are extremely proud of all our students.”
