Trials for a sports education programme will be held throughout August.

Boreham Wood Football Club will be holding open trials throughout this month to fill the final 20 places on its Programme for Academic and Sporting Excellence (PASE) scheme.

PASE Academy coaches have seen around 450 trialists at their Meadow Park ground in their previous five trial dates, but hope more young talent will sign up for the opportunity.

Academy director Luke Garrard said: “We are very happy with the response we have had this year in terms of student/player numbers. Every one of the staff involved with the club and the PASE Academy need thanking as they have worked tirelessly over the past months in the recruitment process and their hard work is paying of.

“The standard of players has been of a level that we can work with and improve. I believe that have we put on enjoyable trials for them all and they have got a real insight of the club, the coaching, its facilities, and the education provision that’s provided.”

Since it began in 2002, the PASE Scheme has won national titles, multiple leagues and cups, and produced 14 England internationals at the schools and college level.
