A free seminar on dementia is being offered to the public by a care home.

Sunrise Senior Living of Elstree is inviting people to book a place at their free seminar next month, held by a university professor.

James Wilson, a lecturer in mental health at Southampton University, aims to give people a greater understanding of dementia, and explain how to help people living with it to go about their daily lives.

Sunrise, which prides itself on its personal approach to dementia care, has a reminiscence neighbourhood which is designed and furnished to be supportive and comfortable, offering a sense of familiarity in everyday life.

Anthony Dunne, director of community relations at Sunrise, said: “Dementia is a very complex condition and the best way we can face the challenges it presents is by talking openly and honestly and sharing our experiences. We are looking forward to this talk and we hope everyone will go away with a better understanding of Alzheimer’s and dementia.”

The event will take place at Sunrise Senior Living of Elstree from 6.30 pm, on September 10.

Places are limited and must be booked by September 1. To book, call Sunrise of Elstree on 020 8236 0100.
