Keen cricketers and spectators are needed to take part in a community cricket day.

Organisers, who include officers and staff from Hertfordshire Constabulary, are on the hunt for both players and supporters from across Hertfordshire to take part in the family event.

Held at Watford Town Cricket Club, the day is suitable for all the family and will give residents the opportunity to find out more about the work of the constabulary and the police and crime commissioner.

This year’s event has been awarded £400 from police and crime commissioner David Lloyd’s Community Fund, in order to help develop community relations between police and the public.

PC Irfan Ishaq, the event’s organiser, said: “Last year’s match saw the community team triumph over the Hertfordshire Constabulary team and take home the trophy - who had won the year before last. This year we hope to take that trophy back.”

“This is a great community event which brings police officers and residents in the community together. Whether a fan of cricket or not, there is plenty for everyone to enjoy.”

The match, which will be held at the Horseshoe Lane ground on Sunday, August 24 from 12pm, will have cash prizes awarded to players with the highest score in runs and wickets.
