Murder on the Orient Express star Lauren Bacall has died at the age of 89.
It is believed she had a stroke in her New York home in the early hours of yesterday morning.
Born Betty Joan Perske, Lauren Bacall made her Hollywood debut in the 1944 film To Have And Have Not.
But she was no stranger to Hertfordshire, having filmed Murder on the Orient Express with Sean Connery and Ingrid Bergman at Elstree Studios in 1974.
The actress' death was confirmed on Twitter by the estate of her first husband Humphrey Bogart: "With deep sorrow, yet with great gratitude for her amazing life, we confirm the passing of Lauren Bacall.”
