A country park hosted almost 300 people as part of the world’s first blogging festival.

Blogstock, run by Traverse Events, saw around 270 people come to Aldenham Country Park last Friday and Saturday.

The event featured sessions, covering fashion, food, travel and family blogging, as well as more generic blogging skills like photography, social media and video.

Non-blogging events and sessions, such as wine tasting, cocktail classes and morning yoga were also included, along with a number of activities for children such as bouncy castles, a race track and ice cream stands.

Organisers Paul Dow, Michael Ball and Ruth Haffenden had been working on the family-friendly festival for 13 months and were pleased with the weekend’s turnout.

Michael Ball said: “The two days went really well. Everyone was really happy with it and it was well attended. The weather even managed to hold out - the Saturday was lovely, perfect weather.”

The team also managed to take advantage of the country park, by adding in walks around the reservoir and woodland.

Mr Ball added: “The park was really good for what we needed. The field itself was perfect, and Olivier Behzadi, the park’s community organiser, was so helpful. Without him and Karl, manager of Links Event Solutions, we wouldn’t have been able to do it.

“There were a few times I disagreed with what Olivier and Karl were saying, but they’re the experts so I went with what they told me.”

The company have already decided that after this year’s success they would like to make the festival an annual event and have already started to look at dates to return to the country park next year.
