Firefighters in Hertfordshire are to hold an eight-day strike as part of their ongoing row with the Government.

The latest round of strike action will be held for three hours a day from August 9 until August 16.

Government plans to raise firefighters' retirement age from 55 to 60, along with increasing their pension contributions, are at the centre of the disagreements.

Since the strikes began last September, the Fire Brigades Union has already staged walk-outs over 24 days, with firefighters on strike for more than 160 hours.

The next round of action, which begins on Saturday, will run between 12pm until 2pm, and from 10.59pm until 11.59pm.
