Hertsmere Mencap held its first ever golf day to celebrate ‘50 years of progress’.

A total of 52 players took to the Radlett Park Golf Club to tee off in the sun last Thursday, in aid of Hertsmere Mencap.

At the end of the match, club captain Dave Meer and Mayor Councillor Carey Keates awarded prizes to Jimmy Giles, the player with the ball nearest the pin on the 11th hole, and overall competition winner Marc Booth.

The winning team was made up of Dave Meer, Marc Booth, Euan Browning and Jeff Carter, while the runners up in second place were Paul Harris, Laurie Lichman, Jimmy Giles and Alex Borg.

Cllr Keates spoke of how he chose Hertsmere Mencap as one of his two Mayor’s charities and Hertsmere Mencap chairman Paul Moser thanked the club manager Nick Booth and the club staff for ensuring the excellent condition of the course.

He added that this year is the 50th Anniversary of Hertsmere Mencap and of how it is being marked as “50 Years of Progress”.
