The consultation on the closure of the Elstree recycling centre is to end in just under two weeks.

Hertfordshire County Council has suggested the closure of the Allum Lane centre as part of cost-cutting measures, and is calling on the public to complete the online consultation.

The results of the consultation will be presented to the council's highways and waste management panel on September 18.

Terry Douris, cabinet member for waste management, said; “We recognise that some of the service changes suggested by AmeyCespa may have an impact on our residents and want your views on their proposals. No decisions have been made yet so it is vital that you let us know what you think of the suggestions.”

A petition against the proposed closure has now received more than 1,100 signatures.

The deadline for consultation responses is August 3- to give your views visit the website www.hertsdirect.org/wastechanges
