A care provider unmasked a 'superhero' care worker during its annual awards ceremony.

Quantum Care held its annual Care Awards last week, which celebrated some of the many amazing achievements of its staff right across the organisation.

This year’s event, the eighth awards ceremony for the Hertfordshire-based organisation, took place in Elstree with the theme ‘unmasking the superheroes among us’.

Laura Raynsford, a care worker at The Mead care home, in Castleford Close, received a standing ovation when she was awarded the surprise lifetime achievement award for more than 40 years of service.

Jeannie Crockett, manager of The Mead care home said “Laura is a kind, committed carer who is a ‘diamond’ and a pleasure to work with. Congratulations from everybody at The Mead - you truly are a wonderful lady.”

Other workers at The Mead were also shortlisted for awards, including administrator Emma Skuce, who reached the finals in the supporting homes category, and housekeeping manager Caroline Perkis and her team, who were shortlisted as finalists for the housekeeping team Award.

Maria Ball, chief executive of Quantum Care said “These awards are an opportunity for us to give each one of our finalists the recognition and congratulations they deserve for the outstanding contributions they have made; their efforts make a real and positive difference to the lives of the residents in our care, and we are all incredibly proud of them.”
