A national mental illness charity is to run a free course for carers of people with mental illness.

The course, organised by Rethink Mental Illness, is designed to give family members and friends a better understanding of mental illness, the law and the mental health system.

Adults in the Borehamwood and Elstree area who care for a family member or a friend with a mental illness are invited to attend the four-week course on Wednesday mornings.

Jonathan Clack of Rethink Mental Illness said: “We’re very proud to offer this course as it will help carers become better informed on how to look after themselves, understand their rights and cope with the challenges that caring brings.

“Looking after someone else can sometimes be an isolating experience so the course is also a great way to meet others in a similar position.”

The course will take place Farriers Way Community Centre for four weeks from July 16.
