A village fete raised more than £5,000 for charity.
Shenley Fete, which was attended by Deputy Mayor Martin Worster and his wife Pamela, has been hailed a “great success” after its committee announced around £5,500 has been raised for local charities.
With stalls including everything from owls, bees and ferrets along with laser tag, Punch and Judy, water balls, bungee jumping, a bouncy castle, a teacup ride and a coconut shy.
The First Shenley Cubs and the Girl Guides also had stalls to publicise their activities and to enlist support.
Committee chairman Guy Beaton said: “The Shenley Fete was a great success. Over recent years it has got progressively larger with a wider variety of stalls but most importantly it maintains a Village atmosphere and we try hard not to let it become too commercial.”
The committee is to hold a meeting later in July to decide on donations and to start making preparations for next year’s fete.
