Children donned stetsons and denim as they raised more than £500 to help save babies’ lives.

The first ever Sensathon, a colourful fundraiser designed to delight and surprise babies, aimed to raise £580 for Tommy’s - which funds medical research into the causes of miscarriage, stillbirth and premature birth, and provides advice and support for all parents-to-be.

With a Wild West theme, 104 babies arrived through the doors of Barnet Baby Sensory in full cowboy and cowgirl outfits, complete with checked shirts, hand-made cowboy hats, neckerchiefs, fringed dresses and denim.

Baby Sensory Manager Lisa Robson said: “Sensathon was a roaring success and I had great fun watching not only the babies have an amazing time but seeing the mums having a great time too.

“We’re very proud to be working with Tommy’s this year, and we know that some of the families here will have their own stories and personal reasons for getting behind this important charity. We want to thank everyone who took part and made the day so special.”

The toddlers were treated to an action packed day including visiting the Rodeo centre, songs around the campfire, themed sock puppet shows and hearing the story of Little Big Horn in the Last Chance Saloon.

Jane Brewin, chief executive of baby charity Tommy’s, said: “We’re delighted that Sensathon was such a great experience for mums, dads and babies alike, and we have been really touched by the enthusiasm and support for our charity shown by everyone who took part."
