Sweet-toothed Americans got a treat at the weekend as a confectionery company showed off its goods.

Churchill’s Confectionery, in Stirling Way, has been running for more than 25 years.

Accompanying Secretary of State Owen Paterson, the family-run business travelled to New York to promote British exports, joining around 40 British companies at the Summer Fancy Food Show on Sunday.

Environment Secretary Owen Paterson said: “I am determined to get more of our great British food and drink on American menus – this is an enormous market worth a staggering $85 billion and we want more of those dollars coming our way.

“This is why I’m delighted to be able to fly the flag for Churchill’s Confectionary, who are currently showcasing their wonderful products at the US’s largest food and drinks event. I hope more British businesses will continue to exploit opportunities like this in years to come.”
