Feeling dog-tired after a long day at the office? You’re not the only one after today's national Bring Your Dog To Work Day.

Borehamwood-based company Butch & Bess, with the help of healthy dog treat firm LoveSniffys, created the event to help raise money for three charities.

Businesses across the UK have welcomed their dog-loving employees and their loyal four-legged companions into work today as part of the nationwide event.

At the Butch & Bess office, in Stirling Way, staff had brought in Nacho, Laila and Roxy to share the day with.

Jo Amit, co-founder of Butch & Bess, said: “We used to have a warehouse so the dogs could come to work with us every day. When we moved here they were sent packing pretty quickly.

“Many scientific studies have shown that the presence of pets can substantially reduce a person’s stress level in the workplace and be beneficial to a person’s well being - plus the dog gets to spend more time with its owner and less time alone.”

Businesses and individuals are being invited to make online donations of £50 and £2 to participate, with all money raised being split between All Dogs Matter, Animals Asia and Pup Aid.

The company hopes to raise around £15,000 for their three charities, and has currently raised more than £7,000.

She added: “We really need people to continue donating, even after today's event finishes. People seem to have really got it actually so we’ve had a lot of support from dog-lovers and our sponsor Animal Friends Pet Insurance.”

The event has been covered nationally, with their hashtag #bringyourdogtoworkday trending on Twitter and many people sending in their photos of their furry friends.
