Fitness-freaks and fashionistas are being invited to join a council-run fitness and beauty scheme.

The 21st Century Female project, devised by Hertsmere Borough Council in partnership with Heartless Creatives, is being run as part of the We Move She Moves campaign.

The special women-only sessions focus on dance for a quick blast of fun and fitness, along with learning the basics of nail art and design, hair, make-up and tips on personal styling.

Councillor Brenda Batten, who is responsible for leisure, culture and health, said: "The project is all about helping women bring out their individuality and confidence. They’ll also get involved in the creative arts namely street dance and fashion. But just as importantly, it’s about getting together with other women for a bit of girlie-fun.

“Participants will be part of something truly unique and the best part is that it’s completely free.”

Corina Best, who runs the sessions, said: "Our 21st Century Female classes are very sociable and laid-back, so you can join in with whichever elements you choose. We all have really busy lives so this two-hour class is great - you only have to leave the house once a week to get multiple benefits.”
