World Champion to present awards to Box Cleva boxing club pupils

A former world boxing champion will hand out awards to pupils of a non-contact boxing club.

Champion John Conteh will be presenting Bronze, Silver, Gold, Diamond and Platinum awards to children from the Box Cleva group.

The club has a regular attendance of around 20 children, meeting once a week with some of the counties’ top boxing trainers.

Founder and Box Cleva Chair, and serving firefighter Bob Williams said: “Box Cleva started in Borehamwood and I'd like to thank all the councillors, Tesco's, Hertsmere borough council and Hertfordshire Fire & Rescue Service, who helped me push this fantastic award winning initiative forward.”

Box Cleva has been running since 2012, and aims to tackle obesity along with teaching young people respect, discipline, healthy living, substance awareness, and fitness.

The awards ceremony will be held on Tuesday, July 1st at 5pm in The Hertswood Centre, Visit the website for further details.
