Residential homes gave people a chance to see how people are cared for as part of a national open day.
Care homes around Borehamwood took part in the event, putting on a range of activities for visitors and care home residents to enjoy.
Sunrise Living, in Edgwarebury Lane, Elstree, hosted a special buffet lunch to celebrate the open day, while guests were entertained by local singer Beth Perman.
Stephanie Colborne, director of community relations, said: “The entire day was a wonderful success and the weather couldn’t have been better. It was a real community event bringing everyone together, and was so lovely to see all our guests and residents mingling with each other.
“National Care Home Open Day is a great opportunity to celebrate the brilliant work that care homes, including Sunrise, do every day. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.”
Forest Care Village, in Cardinal Avenue, also took part in the event - demonstrating the therapies available at their custom-built home, including pet therapy and beauty treatments with a holistic therapist.
Their event was opened by fire fighters, who held a meet and greet, along with Town Mayor Councillor Pat Strack.
Accommodation 'show rooms' were also open to the public.
Other care homes in the town that opened their doors included The Mead, in Castleford Close, which was attended by Mayor Councillor Carey Keates.
Manager Jeannie Crockett said: “We were delighted to have the mayor and mayoress of Hertsmere join us to mark this fantastic campaign, it has been a wonderful day and we are so pleased to have had the opportunity to display some of the fantastic activities and projects going on in our home.”
