A family day out ended in tragedy when an elderly man died after hitting his head in a fall.
John Cecile Timson, of Manor Way, Borehamwood, died at St Mary's hospital after sustaining serious head injuries in a fall outside his home.
Mr Timson had tried to lift his zimmer frame onto the kerb but fell backwards, hitting his head on the edge of the car door.
At an inquest today, Coroner Edward Thomas concluded the death was accidental, and caused by a traumatic brain injury.
He added that a history of strokes and high blood pressure also contributed.
