An insurance company caught World Cup fever with its latest fundraising attempt.

Cardif Pinnacle, in Barnet Way, held an ‘alternative’ World Cup to help local charity Penniwells Riding Centre for the Disabled at Edgwarebury Lane.

Staff at the Borehamwood-based insurance company spent the week taking part in several ‘World Cup’ competitive activities representing various countries.

Activities included a scavenger hunt around Borehamwood, table football heats, a quiz, a football match and floor decorating in World Cup country themes.

Sarah Potter, communications manager for Cardif Pinnacle, said: “We wanted to celebrate the World Cup but also raise money for our chosen charity Penniwells. Our staff also volunteer at the centre to help with ground work, gardening and painting etc.

“It’s a great way to get staff out from the office working together to help a local charity that has very limited funds. ”

The company have now raised almost £400 for Penniwells from its World Cup alternative week.
