Television programmes such as BBC One’s Strictly Come Dancing will continue to be made in Borehamwood.

BBC Studios and Post Production have renewed their contract with Elstree Studios until 2017 following the successful production of many high-profile shows.

Working in partnership, BBC Studios and Post Production and Elstree Studios have refurbished and updated parts of the Elstree site - which now boasts the largest studio space in Europe with permanent HD TV galleries.

Councillor Morris Bright, leader of Hertsmere Borough Council, said: “This is great news for the studios and the area as a whole. I know residents are proud to live in the same town as the iconic studios and will welcome the news that some of the UK’s biggest TV shows are continuing to be filmed here.

“As we celebrate a centenary of local film-making this year, it’s great to see the studios booming with business and re-establishing itself as one of the country’s top studios attracting both national and international productions.”

Roger Morris, managing director at Elstree Studios, said: “This is the ideal partnership – combining the world-famous Elstree Studios with the state-of-the-art television technical production facilities and expertise of the world-renowned BBC Studios and Post Production. Now producers can use first-class television studios at Elstree Studios.

“As testament to the success of the venture one only has to look at the range of television shows that have been produced using these new TV facilities and we have been very impressed by the BBC Studios and Post Production team."
