A motorcyclist was killed when their bike collided with a car in Elstree..

Police were called to Watling Street at around 6.50pm yesterday following reports of a serious road traffic collision involving a car and a motorcyclist.

Firefighters from Borehamwood Fire Station also attended following a report that the vehicle had caught fire.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the car sustained injuries, which are not thought to be life threatening, and was taken to Barnet Hospital.

Watling Street between Butterfly Lane and the Wagon and Horses pub remained closed this morning as a team from Hertfordshire Highways worked at the scene, but the street has now been reopened.

Any witnesses who saw the events leading up to the collision or who saw the collision take place are asked to contact police via the non-emergency number 101 as soon as possible.
