Watling Street is closed in both directions after a fatal crash between a car and a motorcycle.
A person is believed to have died after the incident between Butterfly Lane and Allum Lane, the East of England Ambulance Service said.
Witnesses reported hearing an explosion and seeing a vehicle alight.
