The Rotary Club of Elstree and Borehamwood have celebrated their outgoing president’s year of office.

President Cynthia Barker was joined by members of the Rotary Club for the celebration last week, including Toni Finkel of the Rotary Club of Edgware and Stanmore - who will become the London District’s second female district governor on July 1, 2015.

This year’s event took the form of an evening garden party hosted by Anne and Norman Shuker at their home, Schopwick Place in Elstree High Street.

Many members of the community were also present including James Clappison MP, Mayor Cllr Pat Strack, the Rev Richard Leslie and Fr Dominic McKenna.

President Cynthia Barker said: “It went so well- everyone really seemed to enjoy themselves, as did I. I thought it was amazing.

“I was so glad that so many people turned up from the different clubs in the area, along with the district officers. They got to see the wide range of ‘performances’ we had, from people singing to a few talks. It was such a fun way to celebrate my year.”
