Voters in Borehamwood will go to the polls today to choose Hertsmere’s new councillors.

Elections for Hertsmere Borough Council are held annually, with a third of councillors at a time elected for a four-year term.

The council currently comprises of Borehamwood, Bushey, Potters Bar and Shenley, with 35 seats belonging to the Tories and Labour holding just four seats.

No Liberal Democrat, Green or UK Independence Party representatives currently hold any seats in the council.

But the Labour group does not have a chance of leading the council - even if they were to win all seats being contested, this would still leave them with only 17 of the 39 available.

Earlier this month, The Borehamwood Times spoke to candidates to find out their plans for the borough.

Polls are open from 7am to 10pm tonight. We’ll be updating you with the results live as they come in tonight from 10pm.
