Aldenham Country Park have taken the first steps towards plans to build a pond dipping area.
Borehamwood and Elstree Town Councillors visited the park yesterday morning to help with the launch of the new plans to develop the existing pond at in the on-site farm.
The country park, in Dagger Lane in Elstree, is visited by a lot of schools and the park’s community organiser, Olivier Behzadi, believes the pond dipping area would be a great experience for the children.
“We have a lot of school trips coming to the park and wanted to provide something new for them, like a pond dipping area. We soon realised that we already had our own pond ready made for us, it was perfect.”
The pond dipping area would be accessed by gate onto a raised platform out onto the pond, which will require a considerable amount of construction work.
A plaque, which identifies what creatures can be found in the pond, has already been installed.
It is hoped that the work will have been completed by the beginning of the summer holidays.
