White Watch Borehamwood gave schoolchildren home safety advice - and showed them how to use a fire hose.

Borehamwood fire station's White Watch visited 70 children, aged between four and five, at Cowley Hill School last week to talk about keeping safe in your home.

Children were also given a demonstration on how to put on a firefighting uniform along with the chance to sit in the fire engine and use the hose reel jets.

They were also able to ask questions about the fire and rescue service before the school presented the crew with ‘thank you’ cards.

A teacher at the school commented that the children had really enjoyed themselves.

Watch Commander Bob Williams said: “This is part of our day to day duties, engaging with the community at large. Whether it be young or old, the fire crew will be there to educate.”
