Cyclists pedalled their way to victory after raising tens of thousands of pounds in the Mayor’s Paris to London charity bike ride last weekend.

Thirty cyclists rode the 189 miles from Paris to London in three days and have raised around £30,000 for the Ben Kinsella Trust and the Langdon Foundation.

The ride was started by the Mayor of Fontenay Aux Roses, Borehamwood’s twin town, before the group then rode along the banks of the Seine, past the Palace of Versailles and through the French countryside before crossing the Channel.

Cyclists were given a quick stop off at the Houses of Parliament to meet public before receiving a police escort back to Borehamwood where they were greeted with fanfare and a massive celebration at the civic offices.

Donald Graham, chief executive of Hertsmere Borough Council, took part in the ride along with two council officers Loran Kingston and Paul Hughes.

He said: “It was an amazing experience cycling through France with the welcome we received at the Civic Offices in Borehamwood becoming very emotional for everyone involved and making all the hard work worth it.

“It was tough, but being joined by two council colleagues, made it so much easier and fun. Well done to the mayor for organising such an excellent fundraiser.”
