Councillor Pat Strack has said she feels “honoured” to take on the role of mayor once again.

Cllr Strack was elected as mayor for the second time at Elstree and Borehamwood Town Council’s annual meeting last night.

She was first elected as mayor in May 2009.

After being presented with the collar, she said: “I am honoured to have been asked to do it for a second time and I would like to thank my colleagues for nominating me for this role again.

“For the next year I hope the town will go from strength to strength - there is so much to look forward to and I am very pleased to carry on the tradition as mayor.”

Her first duty as mayor was to attend the Keep Safe launch today at the 96 Shenley Road community centre in Borehamwood.

After stepping down as mayor last night, Cllr Clive Butchins said: "I have strived to be a good representative and I hope I have got somewhere close to this. Being able to go out and meet so many people has been a joy and I shall always treasure my time as mayor."

Cllr Simon Rubner also stepped down last night as the town council’s deputy mayor, with Cllr Richard Butler taking on the role. During the meeting, cabinet members for committees and standing members of outside bodies were also elected.
