Train-spotters are in for a unique opportunity as The Cathedrals Express comes to Radlett.

The train is coming to Radlett for the first time ever to give residents the chance to travel on the famous Settle and Carlisle railway, organised by company Steam Dreams.

The train will be hauled by a vintage diesel to Yorkshire before steam locomotive Scots Guardman continues the journey to Carlisle.

Steam Dreams chairman Marcus Robertson said: “As steam journeys go, it doesn’t get much better than this. We are delighted to be visiting Radlett for the very first time as last year we had to postpone our trip due to engine failure. However, to avoid disappointment this time – we have a spare locomotive just in case.”

Passengers will also be picked up from St Albans, Bedford, Leicester, East Midlands Parkway and Sheffield.

To catch a glimpse or to board, the train will depart from Radlett at 6.10am on Thursday, June 5.
