The 58th Pre-Festival Event will kick off tomorrow after the release of an exciting programme of events.

The annual event gives residents the chance to find out more about the activities and events that will take place during the Elstree & Borehamwood Civic Festival in June.

A number of stalls will be on offer, including those from Mencap, the Green Belt Society, Police cadets, Royal British Legion, Garden Society, Rotary, The Visually Impaired Club and the Neighbourhood Watch.

The Ark, Elstree Productions and Eblos will be selling tickets for forthcoming events and there will also be a display of Brownie memorabilia flags and photos to celebrate 100 Years of Brownies.

Cakes and refreshments will be served throughout the day by Hertsmere Leisure and council staff.

Councillor Pat Strack, who organised the event, said: "Last year was a great success and now we have the main hall at 96 Shenley Road, which was not built last year. This is a great opportunity for the community to come together and we look forward to welcoming everyone."

The Pre-Festival Event will be held on Saturday, May 3 and Sunday, May 4 from 11am to 4pm in the main hall in All Saints Church and the Piazza in Shenley Road.

The full festival will then kick off on Saturday, June 14 with a parade, which will have a television and film theme, with the festival running until Monday, June 30.

Events will include a brazilian-style carnival, Families Day, a fun run and Elstree and Borehamwood's Got Talent.
