A 27-year-old man was attacked outside a busy supermarket yesterday afternoon.

Police were called to Tesco, in Shenley Road, Borehamwood, after reports the man had been assaulted by two men.

He was taken to hospital in a serious condition and had surgery at 10pm last night.

The victim was known to his attackers and police believe it was a targeted attack.

Tesco cancelled their home deliveries last night as police banned vans from leaving the store as forensic investigations took place.

After news of the incident began to travel through the town, people took to Twitter to express their shock.

Carla B wrote: “Really sad to hear about the stabbing in Borehamwood tonight. It's usually a much better place than people give it credit for.”

Sophie said: “So someone got stabbed in Borehamwood Tesco. What is the world coming to?”
