Excitement will fill the air as people come together to celebrate the start of festival season in Borehamwood.

Residents are invited to find out more about the activities and events which will be on offer in the village during the Elstree & Borehamwood Civic Festival fortnight in June.

Organisers are hoping this year’s festival, which will run for two weeks in June, will attract hundreds of people.

Mayor of Elstree & Borehamwood Town Council Cllr Clive Butchins said: “We are all very excited about it. We hope there will be a great atmosphere.

“It doesn’t cost the town council a lot so it’s a great little event to help bring the community together, and a good way for them to find out more information about.

“I hope everyone takes part in our wonderful day.”

Organised by Councillor Pat Strack, people will be able to buy tickets for festival shows at The Ark and Allum Hall.

There will also be the opportunity to find out more about Elstree Productions and sign up for the town’s annual fun run.

More than twenty community organisations will take part at the event, including the Brownies who are celebrating their 100th anniversary.

Borehamwood Brass Brand, Com.Unity Choir and The Woodmen are among the bands who will provide free musical entertainment as people shop around the bric-a-brac stalls.

Cllr Strack said: “This year will be bigger and better than last year’s event.”

The Pre-Festival Event will be held on Saturday, May 3 and Sunday, May 4 from 11am to 4pm in the main hall in 96 Shenley Road, All Saints Church and the Piazza in Shenley Road.

The festival proper then kicks off on Saturday, June 14 with a parade which will have a television and film theme.

A special programme of events will then run until the final day of the festival, Monday, June 30.
