Worshippers carried crosses and branches through Borehamwood as part of the annual Good Friday Walk of Witness.

Catholics, Pentecostals, members of the Church of England and Baptists gathered in Furzehill Road on Friday.

The event was held to mark Jesus's crucifixion, and the 300 participants stopped at six places outside the shops to hear the story of Jesus and sing hymns.

The march, led by Father Dominic McKenna, ended at St Theresa’s Church.

It was organized by the Elstree and Borehamwood Christian Council.

Chairman Kristan Payne said: “This was our biggest crowd ever. The sun shone and it was a most enjoyable occasion, showing that local churches are well supported. It was appropriate that we ended up at the place where our Foodbank is available to all the people of this district.”

Leaflets were handed out inviting people to get in touch with their local churches.
