A school is looking for former pupils to help delve into its past as it celebrates six decades of education.
The first bell for lessons sounded at Saffron Green Primary School, in Nicoll Way, Borehamwood, in September, 1953.
Staff and pupils are marking the milestone at the end of the academic year and are inviting past pupils to get involved with the festivities.
Headteacher Linda Storey said: “It’s important for people to be able to look back and see how things have changed. Education has come a long way since the 1950s.
“The children are all excited and enthusiastic about the history of their school. Each class is going to study a different decade so it’s been a great way to get them involved in history.”
To mark the occasion, former students are invited to visit the school on July 9, 2014, to see for themselves how things have changed.
On the same day, current pupils will also spend a day in the life of a 1950s school child.
