Football fans will be able to watch the game in style with the completion of Boreham Wood FC’s new west stand.

The club, based in Broughinge Road, Borehamwood, is celebrating after the £550,000 stand was completed this week.

It runs the full length of the Meadow Park pitch, creating 1,420 seats and replaces the old asbestos-clad structure.

The Football Stadia Improvement Fund donated a grant of £241,000, and sponsors also included Hertsmere Borough Council, the club chairman and Arsenal FC.

It is hoped the new stand will help strengthen the club’s longstanding relationship with Arsenal Ladies, who use the ground for FA Women’s Super League games, which often attract 1,000 fans.

Boreham Wood FC Chairman Danny Hunter said: "When I began this project, I set out to build something of substance.

“From the outset, there was money to raise, planning permission to get approved, architects to hire and meetings to attend. It was a tough ask.

“It’s a wonderful way to celebrate my 15th year as chairman and I'm thankful to have built so many good relationships with the individuals and organisations mentioned, as their input has been huge.”
