Children were encouraged to teach their parents about the dangers of erratic parking during a special assembly at school.

Pupils from Saffron Green Primary School, in Nicoll Way, Borehamwood, were given a talk by PCSO Marie Harvey from the Borehamwood & Elstree Safer Neighbourhoods Team.

The three to 11-year-olds put eye catching banners up outside the school to educate pupils about parking restrictions, including not parking on the pavement.

PCSO Marie Harvey said: “The frustration is that it is parents who are parking dangerously and inconsiderately.  We hope pupils will tell their parents or carers not to park dangerously or illegally and highlight the consequences of their actions.

“We want them to think about their own safety, encourage their parents to allow more time to get to school and think about other young people that may not be aware of the potential dangers on our roads.”

She showed pupils pictures of badly parked cars and they were able to identify which areas were safe to park.
