Officers from Bushey and Radlett Safer Neighbourhood Teams have teamed up with British Transport Police to give simple crime prevention measures to commuters.

Train stations across Hertsmere will be visited next month and Hertsmere Community Safety Partnership has produced Oyster card holders with crime prevention tips to hand out to commuters.

Sergeant Tony Watson, who has been co-ordinating the initiative, said: "To help reduce crime and anti-social behaviour in Hertsmere, we wanted to remind commuters about their home and personal security as they are out of the area for most of the day.

"As well as reminding Hertsmere commuters to leave their home and car secure, we also wanted to make sure they are not at risk of being targeted by opportunist thieves wanting to steal laptops and mobile phones."

Councillor Charles Goldstein, portfolio holder for community safety and chairman of Hertsmere Community Safety Partnership, added: "This is another excellent example of key agencies working together on an initiative aimed specifically at the commuting members of our community in Hertsmere."
