No parking spaces will be provided for four new one-bedroom flats to be built on gardens in Borehamwood.

Developers submitted plans to build a two-storey building – which has been designed to look like two semi-detatched houses – on land to the side and rear of 62 Milton Drive.

The ground floor flats will be accessed from the side of the new property, while the first floor flats will have access from the front.

But no parking spaces will be made available to the new residents.

Hertsmere Borough Council received eight letters of objection to the plans, citing reasons such as overcrowding, the lack of off-road parking and the loss of privacy to neighbouring homes.

At the council’s planning committee meeting on March 6, planning officers acknowledged concerns about the lack of parking and the position of the site.

However, councillors were told there were no grounds to refuse the application for parking reasons.

The plans were approved, subject to completion of a Section 106 that secures money from the developer to pay for council services.
