The daily commute will be made much easier for people in Shenley when a pilot bus service begins.

Hertfordshire County Council is launching a morning and evening bus service to connect Shenley with Elstree and Borehamwood Station at the end of this month.

The service, which will begin with a six-month trial, was paid for with the help of Councillor Morris Bright, who donated £1,714 from his locality budget, which the council matching his contribution.

Cllr Morris, who represents Potters Bar West and Shenley, said: “Residents in Shenley have told us that they need assistance in being able to commute and get to work.

"We must do all we can to assist in these difficult times and I am happy to part fund a new commuter service for an initial trial to see if it benefits Shenley, before taking a longer term view about the new service.”

There is already regular bus (632?) between Shenley, Porters Park and Radlett Station, so there must be something else this new service will provide?

Great idea. When will the timetable be announced will make a massive difference to a really expensive commute into town. Good work Morris a councillor doing something positive for hertsmere not just Borehamwood.

I sit on the fence when it comes to political allegiance. I do however thank Cllr Morris Bright for supporting this venture and i am sure the residents without their own transport will appreciate this kind gesture. It is all about helping people not politics not as Watfordman stated. Judging by his nickname here he must obviously live in Watford and not a resident of Hertsmere

Not really a new bus service, this is the resurrection of the old London Country Bus route 358 that ran from Borehamwood to Harpenden. I believe it stopped running in the early 70's.

Used to start from Milton Drive (Furzehill Road) and was a green double decker. It was taken out of service due to low passenger numbers.
