Harry Potter met Horrid Henry and Scarlett O’Hara when a school celebrated the joys of books.

Children from Saffron Green Primary School in Nicoll Way in Borehamwood enjoyed a world of stories when they were visited by authors and theatre groups.

During the week the Winding Road Theatre Company told stories and children spoke to authors including Kate Maryon, Andrew Attias and Sam Wilson.

On Thursday, excited children dressed up as characters from their favourite books and all of them said they had had great fun during the week.

Year 4 pupil Aleesha Odeme said: "I would give Book Week 10 out of 10."

Sophie Attais, who is in Year 5, said: “I really enjoyed the whole week and I'll never forget it."
