Men lifted weights and flexed their muscles at a new fitness club for the over 50s.

Fella’s Fitness held its first session in Farriers Way Community Centre in Borehamwood yesterday.

Designed for older men, the sessions allow participants to take part in regular exercise in a fun and sociable environment.

This project is part funded by Hertsmere Borough Council, Community Action Hertsmere and the Live Well project, which was launched last month to encourage healthy living for older people.

Four men turned up to the first session, but organiser of the Live Well Project Joy Nicholl hoped more would attend as the weeks went by.

Councillor Brenda Batten, who is responsible for leisure and health, said: "This is a fantastic new initiative aimed at encouraging participants to build and maintain their fitness, whilst at the same time providing an opportunity for them to meet and interact with other members of their local community."
