A fraudster offered to fix an elderly man's stairlift - then stole £300.

The criminal first approached the 70-year-old in Furzehill Road, Borehamwood on February 11, and offered to carry his shopping bags home.

The offender then went to the victim’s home and offered to fix his stairlift, giving him a fake telephone number.

He said he would need money and left the house with the victim’s bank card and PIN, which he later used to withdraw £300.

Police have released CCTV of the man they would like to speak to in connection with the investigation.

Detective Constable Sam Casey, from Operation Manhunt, is investigating.

He said: “This offender clearly targeted a vulnerable man and I would appeal to anyone with any information about what happened to contact me.

“I would like to speak with the man pictured as part of my inquiries as he may have witnessed what happened or have information which could assist the investigation.”

Anyone with information on the identity of this man should call police on the Hertfordshire Police non-emergency number 101.
