Thieves distracted an elderly woman before stealing money from her handbag.

The 79-year-old was approached by a man and two women outside Greggs in Shenley Road in Borehamwood on November 26 at 10.10am.

The man distracted her while the women unzipped the victim’s handbag and stole a bank book and cash.

Police have released CCTV footage of two women and a man they would like to speak to in connection with the incident.

PC Shazia Malik is investigating and said: “I would like to speak to the people pictured as they may have witnessed the incident or have information that could assist the investigation. If anyone recognises the man and women, or if they recognise themselves, please contact me straight way.

“Equally, I would ask that if anyone saw anything unusual or suspicious around the time of the incident, and in the area, to get in touch with me.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Malik via Hertfordshire Constabulary’s non-emergency number 101, quoting crime reference J1/13/3665.
