Police are seeking a man suspected of trying to entice a small boy into his car.
Members of the public who might have seen a car following a 10-year-old boy down Sullivan Way in Elstree at 4.50pm on Sunday are being asked to come forward.
The red car tailed the boy down the street before its driver, described as a bald white man in his 40s, wearing jeans and a striped t-shirt, opened the passenger door.
He is believed to have indicated to the victim to get in the car, but the boy ran away and escaped unharmed.
PC Darren Arbuthnott is investigating and said: “Firstly, I would like to reassure members of the public that this is an unusual incident and that we are investigating this matter fully. I appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and saw the vehicle to contact police.”
Anyone with information should contact PC Arbuthnott via the Herts police non-emergency number 101.
